Barcelona
Short Guide
What
everyone needs to know before visiting this Great City.
Accommodation
in Barcelona is among the most expensive in Spain
and you're also strongly advised to book ahead. You may
want to check this database as they have by far the lowest
prices on Barcelona
hotels.Transport
From The Airports International airport,
is linked by train every 30min (costs €2.25) to the main train station, Barcelona Sants, from where you can take the metro to the city centre (line #3 to Liceu for the Ramblas).
Alternatively, the Airbus runs every 12min and €3.60 runs to Plaça d'Espanya, Gran Vía de les Corts Catalanes and Plaça de Catalunya. A taxi
from the airport to the city centre will cost around €22. Private
airport transfers also available.
Sightseeing Unlike
other European cities, Barcelona's main sights are fairly
scattered. However, the old town of Barcelona can easily be
explored on foot. La Rablas and El Raval, Barri Gotic, La
Ribera, Port Vell, Barceloneta, Port Olimpic, Sagrada Familia
and Montjuic soe of the few areas should be explored.
Transport
Around Town The public transport is excellent and taxis are easily available.
Buses run along most city routes every few minutes, and there's a tourist bus that covers two circuits of major sites.
A green light on the roof means the taxi is for hire. The
metro is the easiest way to get around most of the city but
you didn't travel thousands of miles to be underground.
Few
Good points Be aware as lots of places will
be closed on Sundays and the month of August. Try not to go
out to dinner too early especially in summer months.
Eating
With more than ten thousand places to eat,
Barcelona boasts a huge variety of restaurants, and even
low-budget travellers can eat well. Barcelona's nightlife is
some of Europe's most exciting. For in depth events and
listing on what's on in Barcelona visit www.guiadelociobcn.com
. We would recommend to follow your ear and find a place
frequented by the locals. You will not be disappointed. The
chances are it will be cheaper and much better food!
